Happy 3 Years Anniversary For My Blog !

Time flies and it has been exactly 3 years since i started to set up this blog. That also means that i am 3 years older!

Why do we blog?

Some blog for fame, some blog for popularity, some blog for money.

For me, blogging has become my diary but in an online form. It is a mean of releasing my emotions, expressing my thoughts, ideas as well as recording down my daily events and memories. Occasionally, i will also read my older posts and reminisce about those days.

I also loved to read other people's blog especially my friends'. In this busy working world, a lot of us do not have the time to meet up with all friends. Through blogs, i am able to find out how they are doing. Blogging also gives me the opportunity to improve my english by reading and writing more often.

However, blogs are definately not a place for slanders. A minority of the people has faced charges for slandering as they do not know what is suitable to write and what is not. So, please write with caution and respect.

Nevertheless, thank you blog...for letting me recording all the wonderful moments in my life.

My Jealousy Test Result:

Board Game, Pool, KTV Pub

Darling and me went for a "cash flow" board game @ The Settlers Cafe last Saturday. We were invited by our friendly advisor, Vincent to participate in this game. It was an event organised by Prudential and two of our friends Chloe and James joined us as well. The whole room was booked by Prudential with a few invitees participating the game.

The objective of the game is to get out of the Rat Race, accumulate a total of $800,000 wealth for retirement. The first 3 person who completed this game were entitled to cash prizes. WOW! This is a game that involves a combination of luck, risk-taking and the right strategic move. Earning yourself a passive income, clearing off existing debts and moving to buy stocks and properties at a low price and selling them at a high price and finally making enough money for retirement.

Well, i guess both James and I were the unlucky ones. Both missing turns and i even gotten myself not 1 but 3 babies in the game, incurring extra expenses. While missing our turns, we were indulged in the finger foods, sotong balls, french fries, nuggets etc. All foods and drinks were complimentary. Heeeeheeeee.

Darling ended up winning the 3rd price for this event, earning himself $100 cash prize. Wooohooo! I must say this is indeed a fun game.

The bottomline - If you want to retire early, whether its is in comfort or in a simple way, you have to start planning early.

Then, we entertained ourselves with the Jenga game.

And the guys moved on to their own game. Eh. I do not know the name of this boardgame. But accordingly to James, the objective of this game is to stay as long as possible. Obviously, he was the winner.

After the game, we proceeded to Suntec and met up with Iris and CY for dinner. It was super crowded at City Hall due to the Fireworks event at marina. After a quick meal at MacDonalds, we went for pool session @ Marina Square. Chloe and James did not join the game as they were busy with their bridal shops hunting. It was one and half hour later they came back. We thought they might have signed up for a bridal package. Haha.

After pool, the 5 of us, Darling, me, Vincent, Chloe and James met up with Karen & Patrick @ Boat Quay. As usual our Dear Karen was late again. We ended up in a pub called Chillz but the aircon was not cooling at all. Really fun night, playing a new game that was introduced by James called "Heart Attack Version 2" while waiting for our turn to sing. I guess we were the "loudest" group among all till eventually we played in silent mode not to cause disturbance to other people in the pub. Everyone of us were enjoying ourselves, laughing till our hearts' content. Vincent, Chloe and James left earlier as they were too tired while the rest of us stayed till 3am plus before we called it a day =)

When The Door Of Happiness Closes, Another Opens.

But often, we look so long at the closed door, we don't see the one which has been opened to us.
Don't go for looks, they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth, it can fade away.
Go for someone who makes you smile because a smile can make a dark day bright.
Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go.
Be who you want to be because you have only one life and one chance to do the things you want to do.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past.
You can't go forward until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
Live your life so that at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
Don't count the years - count the memories.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!

Stupid Dream

Another stupid thing that I have dreamt last night. I dreamt that Chinese New Year is on 3rd September and that I can finally have a long week break.

*Smiling to myself*.

Perhaps I am too tired, both physically and psychologically, yearning for long breaks.

Late For Work

I dreamt that I was late for exam last night. My exam was supposed to start at 9am. However, I was deliberately woken up after 9am, resulting me to be absent and failed for my paper.

And what happened next in reality,

I was late for work :(

In the end, I took a taxi which costs me $40 from Seng Kang to reach Pandan Road. Heartache :(

Hospitality Service - Still Needs To Be Improved

Few days ago, I was checking on behalf of my boss on the various hotel reservation rates during the F1 period. As we understand that these are the "hot dates", i took the liability to call in to make enquiry so as to confirm a room in one of the hotel soonest as possible. As a consumer point of view, we are looking for rooms with the most afforable cost with the level of comfort and convenience at our ease.

However, I must say that i felt frustrated and disappointed with the customer service that i have encountered with the one of the hotel staff personnel.

I have called about 5 hotels, asking them to email me the room availability as well as a detailed breakdown on the rates. Out of these 5, only 3 emailed me and one of them was by Park Royal Hotel @ Kitchener Road.

I will like to emphasis the 1 out of 2 who did not email me was from Park Royal Hotel @ Beach Road. Firstly, the customer service from the reservation department was not friendly and seemed rather impatient pertaining to my queries. Next, i knew it is kind of draggy for her to give me a breakdown of all the rates over the phone. Hence, i asked her to email me instead.

And guess what she replied me? "We don't send any email".

Diaoz! I was very unpleased to hear that. Come on, please don't make such a lousy excuse. Why the other branch at Kitchener Road was able to provide me a detailed email? Or maybe she is lazy or she simply just don't bother? Or even she can't read or type english, she may get someone else to help. Because of that, they had just lost a potential customer.

Their service is not up to the customers' expectations for a "4-star" hotel.

Bad customer service = Bad company image

Seriously, i feel that their customer service needs to be improved. The management needs to provide their staffs with the appropriate training and development skills to improve the overall performance of the hotel and make sure that they are well equipped with the knowledge and compentency of the job required.

As a comparison, i will definately choose the Park Royal Hotel @ Kitchener road instead of the one @ Beach Road.

Personnel Management Exam

Wow! I did it again!

I scored an A for Personnel Management. Darling scored an A+. Unbelievable ! Hard work finally was paid off.

Project Management Exam

I guess i did quite badly in my project management exam last Sunday.

When i read the exam questions, i almost freaked out. It was so different from what i have learnt. Spent the first 10 minutes just reading the questions and not knowing which one to choose. A lot of time was spent analysing the questions, taking me 3 hours to finish the whole paper. Everything required was to explain and explain and to give examples and give examples.

The things i memorised seemed to be erased. Luckily, i got my composure back and was able to recall most of the answers. I admitted that it was my negliance due to my lack of preparation and concentration during lectures.

I don't hope for more this time. A pass will be good enough for me...

Never Ending Exams :(

I have submitted the project management assignment in due dateline. However, my happiness did not last for long and here's come the exam, just 1 day right after National Day. This will be the third exam that i be sitting. I have cleared 2 examinations so far, and there are 6 more to go. It's kinda taxing going through exams almost practically every month, plus all the assignments and presentations. Getting less and less enthuastic for lessons.

I just wish that i can finish the whole course quickly so that i can be "FREE"!!!!

We have formed a blog whereby the students are able to exchange exam or assignment related ideas and documents and this will be especially helpful in the upcoming exams.
